queen victoria 1884 1 cent coin

This is 1 cent Queen Victoria 1884. Quite interesting error on it. I wonder what is the error type. I've looked every angle of the coin but no sign of post mint error or human made error since the image of the  'T',' R','A' and ' I' are visible or was it happened at the mint. I'm not very sure of this error or it may  relates to error planchet. All comments are welcome. Tq

  1. Safe to include this under 'defective planchet'. The planchet was already defective before it was struck since you can still see the struck lettering on top of the defective area.
Planchets can be defective due to improper alloy mix or improper annealing process.
    Cheers!
